Docs pages that answer

ia.docs-answer · 4.30

Read SHOULD Measured study AR-READ-04 AR-FIND-02 AR-READ-05

Why it matters

Agents read docs pages as raw HTML and reuse code from them. In the agentready.org study, agents reached docs pages in most runs. A page that needs JavaScript, has no headings or shows untagged code gives the agent no usable answer.

How to fix it

Render docs pages on the server with headings and language-tagged code.

  1. Render the docs text in the server HTML, with at least a few paragraphs per page.

  2. Give each page an h1 and h2 or h3 headings.

  3. Tag each code block with its language.

    <pre><code class="language-bash">curl https://api.example.com/v1/items</code></pre>

Verify

curl -sL https://{domain}/docs | grep -c 'class="language-'

Expected: a count above 0
